Last week, we invited friends of the brand to join us on a journey unlike any other: the Knitting Train to Finse. In celebration of our Autumn/Winter ‘25 collaboration with Skappel Oslo, guests gathered at Oslo S before boarding a five-hour train bound for Finse, a remote destination only accessible by rail, commonly regarded as the most beautiful train journey in the world.
On board, the atmosphere was intimate and relaxed and the Skappel team alongside our Creative Director, Maria Skappel Holzweiler, led knitting sessions inspired by the new capsule collection, guiding guests through the patterns and colours that define the collaboration. Between rows of stitches, conversations flowed easily over snacks and lunch, with autumnal oranges and deep greens framing the passing landscapes outside the window.
Arriving at Finse 1222, a historic mountain hotel perched on the edge of a national park and Hardangerjøkulen glacier, guests discovered Holzweiler x Skappel pieces waiting in their rooms alongside hand-decorated cookies echoing the geometric patterns of the knitwear. After a short coastal hike to stretch their legs, the group gathered for dinner in a private room with panoramic views of the glacier. The table was set with scarves from the capsule and autumnal flowers, a reminder that everything from nature to community shapes the way we create.
Morning began with an icy dip for the bravest guests, followed by steaming coffee and hot chocolate around the fire beneath the clear Norwegian sun. Soon after, the train carried everyone back to Oslo with the feeling that something special had been shared: not just a trip, but a moment of togetherness.
The Holzweiler x Skappel capsule is a small but expressive collection of geometric patterned jumpers, hats and scarves. Crafted from Skappel’s own Norwegian wool and produced in Italy in low production runs, each piece carries a hand-knitted feel that connects back to our roots. Founded by mother and daughter Dorthe and Marthe Skappel, who are also Maria’s mother and sister, Skappel has become synonymous with modern Norwegian knitwear. This collaboration brings the story full circle, connecting heritage, family and craft.
“Knitting is such an integral part of Norwegian culture, and working with Skappel allows us to tell that story in a way that feels authentic, colourful and connected to our Winter Wonderland theme,” says Maria Skappel Holzweiler.
Available now as part of our Autumn/Winter ‘25 Winter Wonderland collection, the Holzweiler x Skappel capsule is a reminder that true warmth comes not only from what we wear, but from the people we gather with.
